Divisions

Team Structure

Six ways students make the robot and the team work.

Each division owns a different part of the program, from early robot concepts to the wiring, code, fabrication, outreach, and media that keep Ctrl-Alt-Defeat moving.

01

Design [DSN]

Design ideates, sketches, and designs robot concepts in CAD software with principles of mechanical engineering. They coordinate and lead the other teams to assemble, iterate, and build a mechanically reliable robot. Design students also often learn fabrication.

02

Fabrication [FAB]

Fabrication uses industrial tooling to create parts to be used in robot assembly based on design requirements.

03

Electrical [ELC]

Electrical wires the robot. Their job is to take the mechanical systems and make them reliably controllable and maintainable.

04

Software [PRO]

Software writes code in Java to control the robot, integrating data from sensors to give the robot awareness of its surroundings. Software is responsible for ensuring the robot performs responsively in both Autonomous and Teleoperated modes. Builds apps to support the team in scouting and otherwise.

05

Business [BIZ]

Business is responsible for most of our fundraising efforts by contacting sponsors, applying for grants, and managing our budget.

Media [MDA]

Media manages our team media, photographs and records all team events and competitions, promotes our program through our website and social media, and designs our team apparel.
